I assisted a fellow freelancer with digital content rewrites for a tax service website as requested by the site owners, in an effort to humanise the dry “accounty” content. An additional degree of difficulty came with the brief, as English was a second language for the site’s web developers. It was a great collaborative experience and taught me the value of clear, concise instruction.
I provided an audit and rewrites of digital content for chiropractic and wellness group Movement Studio‘s website relaunch. A visit to the bricks and mortar clinic assisted me to get a real feel for the business, and the tone required. Working with this team to create copy that reflected the warmth and professional care they exude was a true pleasure.
The latest article, published by Mamamia, a humorous style article for the health and beauty page.
I was asked to provide the copy for a promotional board to be displayed outside a local primary school, that was both positive and reflective of the unusual 2020 school year. I was further engaged by the school to interview members of the school community about their experiences of remote learning, and from these interviews contribute an article for the school’s commemorative time capsule.
After having little choice but to launch an online shop during Covid-19 lockdown in metropolitan Melbourne, I was asked to provide initial SEO support for gorgeous clothing shop Quirky & the Jakster. I zhuzhed the already visually splendid Shopify powered site so that Google was able to find it. After all, there’s no reason on earth why anyone should miss out on Jak Soprano’s beautifully curated shop.

“I have known Mel Bateson for over 20 years. I have the deepest personal and professional respect for her as a mother, businesswoman and copywriter. Mel worked for me as a copywriter for a 12 month period and I was delighted by her knowledge and skillset. She added incredible value to my work with not only her personal style but her maturity and intellect. I sincerely believe that her unique energy, passion, and tireless creativity would be an incredible asset for any author, writing team or business that needs to cleverly engage their audience through well-constructed prose. In fact, I’m confident she will swiftly become your secret weapon. She has an impressive sense of humour and humility and wholeheartedly commits to her craft and assigned tasks. I happily give Mel my highest endorsement.” – Dr Jennifer Barham-Floreani (B.App.Clin.Sci, B.App.Chiro), Award-winning health practitioner, Best Selling Author, Founder, Well Adjusted.
